How to measure it
Cream cheese comes pre-measured in the US: the standard 8 oz block is 226 g, almost exactly one cup. Cheesecake recipes calling for two blocks mean 452 g, and you never need to press cream cheese into an actual measuring cup.
Whipped cream cheese in tubs is aerated and weighs about a third less per cup, so blocks and tubs are not interchangeable by volume. European soft cheese sold in 150 g or 200 g tubs converts cleanly by weight: 227 g per cup.
Density source: Manufacturer packaging (8 oz block). Method assumed: Block style. A standard US 8 oz brick equals one cup.
