How to measure it

Whole raw almonds weigh about 143 g a cup. The big irregular kernels leave lots of air gaps, which is why the number is so much lower than you might guess for a dense nut.

Form matters enormously with almonds. Sliced almonds drop to about 92 g a cup, slivered to about 108 g, and almond flour to about 96 g. Converting a cup of one form to another by volume alone will wreck a macaron or frangipane recipe.

When a recipe just says almonds, it usually means whole. When it says almond meal or almond flour, use the ground figure and ideally a scale.

Density source: Government food composition data (whole raw almonds). Method assumed: Whole raw almonds. Ground almond flour is about 96 g a cup.
